What are mounting shafts?
Typically steel material in the form of either round or square shape. Sometimes stepped and keyed for power transmission.
How much clearance should I leave between the mounting shaft and core chuck?
A sliding fit which translates to a minimum clearance of 0.002” and a maximum clearance 0.006”. Our full line products are designed to incorporate this feature. Example: Shaft outer diameter
Why do people use mounting shafts?
1. To support a core chuck. 2. To transmit either an accelerating or retarding force via a brake, clutch or pulley.
