How much clearance should I leave between the mounting shaft and core chuck?
Last Updated: 04/07/2007
A sliding fit which translates to a minimum clearance of 0.002” and a maximum clearance 0.006”.  Our full line products are designed to incorporate this feature.

Example: Shaft outer diameter is 1.4995” / 1.4985” and core chuck bore is 1.504” / 1.502”.

Example Minimum Clearance:  Shaft is made to high and core chuck bore is made to low: clearance is 1.502” – 1.4995” = 0.0025”.    0.0025” is greater than 0.002”.

Example Maximum clearance: Shaft is made to low and core chuck bore is made to high: 1.504” – 1.4985” = 0.0055”.  0.0055” is less than 0.006”
