Why do I need a guide flange?
Last Updated: 04/07/2007
Although more common in unwinding, guide flanges may also be used in rewinding.  In both cases they are used to control roll telescoping.  Roll telescoping is when material becomes misaligned.  Rolls may become telescoped during unwinding because web is under tension which compresses the roll and may “shoot” slippery materials out.
